Antony was born in Florence to Niccolò and Thomasina Pierozzi, respected members of the Florentine Republic. Antony was received into the Dominican Order at the age of sixteen. As Bishop of Florence, he possessed all the virtues which distinguished the greatest bishops of antiquity. His apostolic zeal, charity, and austerity of life were the glory of the Florentine Church. Little Antony was very humble, so the many works of charity he performed for the poor, the blind and lepers were unknown except to those he cared for.
Also known as Little Antony, Antonius, Antoninus and Anthony.
