St. Amand of Maastricht
Born: 589
Died: 679
Canonized: pre-Congregation
Feast Day: February 6
Patron Saint of: hotel keepers, vintners
Amand of Maastricht lived in Bourges, France, as a hermit for nearly 15 years before he started converting non-believers to the Christian faith. Because Amand took his message as far as his feet would carry him, never staying longer than necessary in one location, never establishing a home for himself, he is known as the patron saint of hotel keepers. He continued to preach until the age of 90.
